Pottery

Can I put my new mug in the microwave or dishwasher? Can I put my new mug in the microwave or dishwasher?

Yes! All of our dishware is microwave and dishwasher-safe!

Are your pieces oven-safe? Are your pieces oven-safe?

We do not recommend using Murai dishware in the oven. Our pottery is not meant to withstand extreme temperature shocks. I.e.: putting a bowl in the fridge and then into the microwave. Additionally, our pieces are quite thin, which makes them too fragile for the oven.

Yes, we do! We also have a pickup option if you live in the area.

What happens if my order arrives damaged? What happens if my order arrives damaged?

If you receive the parcel and your order is damaged, you have 4 weeks to take photos and send them to muraiceramique@gmail.com. We will replace any order that was damaged during shipping.

If you would like to come visit the studio please send us an email at muraiceramique@gmail.com to book a visit. Our studio is not usually open to the public.

What is the difference between the Introduction Courses and Beginner Courses? What is the difference between the Introduction Courses and Beginner Courses?

Our introduction classes are exactly that, an introduction! The six-week classes, in contrast, are for people who want to learn the basic ins and outs of pottery and possibly hold on to pottery as a hobby.

When can I pick up my pieces? When can I pick up my pieces?

During your last class, you will receive an email with three dates and times for you to come pick up your pieces at the studio.

Given the nature of the medium and the demand for classes, we can't offer one-time attendance for courses that are several weeks.

Can kids take a course? Can kids take a course?

We offer courses for everyone aged 7 and up. However, we ask that parents accompany children aged 7 to 10 for any classes. For kids aged 10 and older we ask that parents use their discretion in terms of accompaniment.

Membership

How long does a membership last? How long does a membership last?

Members may cancel their membership at any time. However we prefer members who would join long term.

How do I become a member? How do I become a member?

We require all members who are new to pottery take at least one beginners 6 week course or provide us with sufficient experience. Please refer to our membership page for more info on how to become a member.

How much does a monthly membership cost? How much does a monthly membership cost?

Our membership is $165 before tax.

Can I fire pieces at the studio if I am not a member? Can I fire pieces at the studio if I am not a member?

Unfortunately we are unable to offer one-off firings.
